My Dissing Letter to My Beastly Students

hi everyone.. please read the following, in preparation of a guest who is coming over tomorrow inshallah, and also to learn the new rules..

first of all, we have a busy day tomorrow, so please bring the cragan book and be ready to do some work.

also, don't forget the chapter 4 and chapter 5 questions, emailed to me by noon or you can bring a printout to class.

that's 10 questions for both chapters, and if i see a significant overlap of your questions and someone else's (i'm actually grading the questions) then you don't get credit, so even though you may work together, please be honest and submit your own. and kindly don't hand me a paper and a giggle and say 'my questions are exactly the same as x's, because we studied together! but we learned alot, don't worry!'.

be on the lookout for an article i'll be emailing out by 8 am tomorrow (like 'fired for blogging') for your perusal and a small quiz during class.

also, i have had a complaint about the state of the classroom after our class--people have been leaving water bottles, gum wrappers, and loose-leaf paper.

this is unacceptable, people. we're not in grade school! please clean up your own mess so i won't have to remind you in the middle of class.

also, please leave your gum outside of the classroom, because, as previously noted several times, gum=absence, and i have actually been taking roll. don't come whining to me about previous classes, just throw it out and let sleeping dogs lie.

finally, i understand that this class overlaps with other classes, but i'd like to ask you to not rush up to me once you see me and ask me if we're getting out early; this is very unmannerly and i would prefer that you just gather your things, quietly go and perhaps email me later on and let me know what's going on.

also, we are having a guest tomorrow, so please be on your best behaviour for once in (some of) your lives! if i notice any illicit chatting, i'll have to ask you to leave.

the past few class meetings have gone very badly, gang, and i am having to modify the schedule to do away with the documentary project, in favour of more quizzes and i guess you can call it 'busy work' and lectures.

unfortunately, several of you have ruined things for everyone, and i don't have the strength to holler over the din; i doubt schwartzenegger (ahhnold) would have the strength.

as of now, the final exam is back on during exam week, rather than the week before. this is not set in stone, and we will discuss this later on.

sorry to those of you who have been good and a pleasure to teach, but i have to tailor the lessons to the lowest common denominator.

anyway, see you tomorrow, and if you have an issue, please email sallysall@aol.com rather than this one, because blackboard rarely works when i'm off campus (this is a fluke).

as we say in arabic 'rabena yehedd el moftari!'

take care and see you tomorrow.
