Lebanese Superstars and Formula 1

first of all, to certain people who are tracking my packing progress by the frequency of blog postings, let me assure you that i AM making progress on unpacking my house, mother, i promise! (ok, so it's like 2 boxes an hour, but that's better than 0, isn't it? hmph.)

at any rate, someone sent me a video on youtube, and i decided that, while i was online, i may as well search for some good music to keep me company while i'm muscleing around the house.

so, after suffering through a (LIVE) roubi impromptu concert (with a too-touchy-feely ehab tawfiq and a too-thug-for-his-own-good hisham abass), i looked for the love of my life, ragheb alama.

now, it should be said that i've never heard him speak (in an interview, i mean) nor have i ever seen a concert for him, BUT i did see him pushing haifaa wahby away from himself when she tried to climb aboard during an impromptu concert of her own. the only reason i mention this is because i respected him very much for this, especially after having seen how she was grinding all over shaggy ("boombastic") in some concert a year or 2 ago. it's like, get a room already, chick. (but more on her another day.)

ANYway, i found 2 interviews for dear ragheb on youtube, and it must be said that i was as happy as a lark, since i really love the guy.

as it turns out, the first second i saw the thumbnail with his soora, i was like, oh my flames, is that a racing outfit????

the reason i suspected this is because, living in florida, i kind of run into lots of people who are into nascar.

at any rate, i began watching the show, and to my UTTER HORROR OF LIFE, i was proven right! my beloved (albeit lebnani) darling was going on about formula 1 something or other, which (i'm pretty sure) has something to do with racing!

for those of you who neither know me nor understand why i am freaking out, let me share a little fact with you.. i live in FLORIDA, otherwise known as "redneck heaven."

not that i have a problem with rednecks (whatever they may be) but it's just disconcerting to live around so many people who get inordinate amounts of pleasure pronouncing it "AYYYYY-RAB".

furthermore, i never thought i'd live to see the day when my fave singer (well, for the moment, and a true AY-RAB, no less) would be so enthused about a sport that has caused me such agony.

(sigh.)

i need an alka-seltzer and some beef jerky and moon pies. back in 2 shakes of a lamb's tail..
